  2. I am tracking Louis Waingsalbom, He was my grandfathers business partner in Cripple Creek Colorado in 1905. Mr. Waingsalbom is listed as Deceased in the California Death Index on November 1, 1948 in Siskiyou. He seems to have spent his last years in Siskiyou county. The 1930 Federal Census shows him living in Happy Camp with the occupation of gold miner. Is there someone that can research his doings in Sisikyou?
His name is spelled several different ways: Waingsalbom, Weingsolbam, Weingsolbom. Wainsgalbon, and Loris Wainsgalbom.
The 1930 Census shows Waingsalbom as married I did not find his wife.

    Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to ask if you would kindly put this in the letters section of your paper. Below I have written details od my Scottish born family that I beleive to be somewhere in California.

    Yours faithfully

    Jean Petrie (nee Davies)

    SEARCHING FOR DAVIES FAMILY

THOMAS DAVIES, born September 18th 1918 and his sister MARY ANN DAVIES, born May 26th 1920. They are my Uncle and Aunt. Both were born in a little village called PHILPSTOUN, West Lothian, Scotland.

Their father was JOSEPH DAVIES, who was a miner and their mother was ISABELLA DAVIES (previous married name SHAW, nee BROWN) a widow, who had a daughter from her first marriage called MARGARET SHAW.

Isabella married my Grandfather Joseph in Scotland in 1918. After Joseph’s death in 1029, Isabella set sail for America with Margaret Shaw, Thomas and Mary Ann Davies and her 3 Step-sons: JOHN, HENRY and JOSEPH DAVIES. They went to stay with Isabellas father(Grandfather?) THOMAS BROWN In North Walnut Street, Springfield. Illinois in 1921.

Isabella at the time of her death went under the name of PARKS. I beleive she died the 10th February 1973 (her death notice is posted in the LA Times February 12th 1973) and is buried at a place called Inglewood Park Cemetery, California.

ANY INFORMATION WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED

  12. Ignorant boy from up in British Columbia, Canada. What/where is Happy Camp? It sounds like a beautiful, artistic and loving community. Is it a recognized town? Privately owned? Would really like to see a “who Happy Camp is” page on your website. Also, really would love to see a picture of the giant dream catcher.
    Thanks, Peace.

  13. Hello, my name is Rawn Donaldson. I’m working with a local AIM chapter in Indianapolis, IN. Our local leader is looking into taking on building the world’s largest dream catcher in support of The Longest Walk as well as many other native efforts. Any assistance or wisdom on this topic is greatly appreciated.

  18. I used to spend some summers in Happy Camp in the 50′s and I love the beauty of the area. So I love reading the local news and enjoy your website. But I would love it if you would have regular news about Bigfoot. I know there are a lot of sightings in that area and I am a believer. So many people have seen them and want to read news about them. Even if someone just finds tracks. So please consider this.
Keep up the good work. I am Pat Topel from Branson, Mo email is ftopel@centurytel,net thanks.

  19. Hello, I am trying to find any information about my husbands family that was living in the Happy Camp area during the 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s. Does anyone remember or know any of the Overosses? We are specifically trying to find Mike’s first cousins, the children of Kathleen Oveross Sharpe.
    Thank you!

  20. A man with roots in depression era Oklahoma has shared a few of his experiences in a book called:

    Meet the Conditions
    Authored by Robert Lee Horttor

Sinner has a dream. Does nothing. Sinner has same dream but a voice of warning is added after the video goes off. Sinner starts reading the BIBLE. Sinner believes, starts going to church. Believer wants to receive the HOLY GHOST. Believer is Baptized first in water and then in the HOLY GHOST. Balance of book covers things GOD said to believer and how HE ( GOD ) moved in the life of the believer, his family and friends. Also told are more dreams and miracles and how you may receive the promises of GOD. The book illustrates how members of the BODY of CHRIST minister to one another and the importance that all minister to sinners and to one another. Your rewards will be great. JESUS is the MESSIAH.

Every man who walks this planet casts a shadow – a shadow of influence that affects those around him. Sometimes for good. Sometimes for bad. This book reflects the shadow cast by a man who came to know the grace of God and learned to live life through the prism of that grace. With candor, Bob shares events and experiences, reflections of ministry and people he’s met – real happenings taken out of real life.Bob’s story, both the humorous and serious parts will bless you. Too, you will see how God can use an individual who yields to Him.
Bob Horttor is a musician, a song writer, a witness for Christ, and a preacher of the Gospel. It is a privilege for me to know this man – both as his pastor, and co-laborer with him, but most of all, as his friend.

    Blessed reading!
