Marijuana Inspections

Yreka – In accordance with California Senate Bill 420, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department is actively making compliance inspections of medical marijuana growing operations in the county. If the operations are found to be out of compliance with their medical marijuana prescriptions, all of the marijuana plants being grown will be confiscated.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Department Marijuana Eradication Unit conducted two compliance inspections in the south county area of Siskiyou County on 9/1/06 and found that both cultivation operations were growing more marijuana than was allowed by California Proposition 215, California’s medical marijuana initiative which provides for a total of twelve (12) immature or six (6) mature marijuana plants together with 8 ounces of processed marijuana for each marijuana medical prescription.

All fifty three (53) marijuana plants were confiscated from the growing operation at 498 Arbaugh Street in Weed where three medical prescriptions were in place.

All thirty seven (37) plants were confiscated from the growing operation at 5620 Truck Village Drive near Mount Shasta; the person growing the marijuana on Truck Village Drive was in possession of three medical marijuana prescriptions. The two cases will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office seeking charges against both growers.

In addition, anyone with information regarding marijuana being grown in Siskiyou County is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department 24-hour dispatch center at (530) 841-2900.

Those who wish to speak with the Marijuana Team directly or who prefer to remain anonymous may leave a message at (530) 842-8328. The Sheriff’s Department Marijuana Eradication Team will aggressively investigate all reports of suspicious activity.
