P,K.Halinan teaches, “What are doing here?”

P.K. Hallinan spoke at the happy Camp Christian Fellowship at the Elementary School Gym last week. The question that was the theme of his teaching was, “What are you doing here?” This is the first of three Sundays when P.K. will be with us while Pastor Kirk is not here.
P.K.is a pastor in a Christian Fellowship by Ashland, Oregon, but is also well known as a writer and illustrator of books. His cheerfully illustrated little story books for youngsters aged 3 to 6 are enchanting. “Heart Prints” is one of his books and he has just finished writing about sisters.. Actually he is the author of 85 children’s books covering topics of inspiration, friendship, love, relationships and life values.
He began by telling the story of the bear in the forest and the atheist and then turned to I Kings 19:9 about Elijah the prophet. First we looked at the events of 857 BC when Elijah had a great victory over the prophets of Baal and God answered his prayer and consumed the sacrifice on the altar. After that great and glorious victory, he ran and hid in a cave from Jezebel. Why when he faced 450 men who worshiped Baal would he run from one woman?
God asked Elijah, “What are you doing here?” Elijah doesn’t answer the question, he makes the claim, which will later be proven false, that he is the only one left. He also tells God that they are seeking his life. God has him rest and eat. On the strength of that food he is able to go forty days.
Then there is the wind, earthquake, raging fire, but God was not in the wind, God was not in the earthquake, God was not in the raging fire, but God was in the still small voice and He asked again What are you doing here?
God tells Elijah that He still has 7000 who have not bowed their knee to Baal or kissed him. He gives him a job to do, to anoint of Judah and Jehu of Israel and appoint Elisha as prophet after Elijah is gone.
At Green Springs Inn in Ashland they had all the pastors gather and they came to get straightened out and spiritually encouraged. The question is “Why did God call you?” Joseph told his brothers, that although they meant selling him into slavery for evil, God meant it for good to save much people, in fact all of Joseph’s family as well as other nations.
God is in the soul saving business! He cleanses us from sin by His atoning sacrifice. He places His Holy Spirit in the believer and He transforms us into His own likeness. The only way that God has chosen to take this message to lost world is by the means of believers. How do we save much people alive? He wants us to be as much like little Christs as possible.
In “More than a Carpenter”, Josh McDowell said about his hatred for his alcoholic, abusive father when his life changed, “:Love so strong, it turned hate upside down.”
Josh’s father came to him and said, “Son, How can you love a father like me?”
Just the way they are
God looks like Love, God doesn’t’ look like rules, God doesn’t look like a lecturer, God doesn’t’ look like an assignment, smiles, laughs, kind eyes, Love, God looks like Love.
People see God in us when they see Love.
All I want you to do is love people.
They are not saved by arguments, clever tricks, etc.
In “A Life that Matters” money doesn’t make me happy, fame doesn’t’ make me happy…etc
So, what do I do? I need Jesus
Chosen specifically and intentionally to love people like Jesus

June 4,2013 Meeting of the HC Chamber

Dolly called the June meeting of the Happy Camp Chamber of Commerce to order at 6:20pm as Bob Schmalzbach was out of town. Those present were: Dolly Elston, James Buchner, Dan Effman, Judy Bushy and Rosemary Boren and we had a quorum.

Secretary read the minutes of the May meeting. James made a motion to accept the minutes as read, minutes passed unanimously

Bob sent a message showing the May 31st balance in the Scott Valley Bank account is $629.24. We have a deposit yet to make of Parry’s and Marble Mountain Gifts memberships, book sales etc. and quarterly rent is due as well as June utilities. We will take minutes and letter concerning signatures on the account to Scott Valley Bank as soon as all board members are available. Dolly found out that Bob, Dolly and Judy already have signatures at the bank in the meantime.

Art & Treasure is Saturday. Cat handed out mini-fliers in Scott Valley last weekend. Klamath River Community Hall is having a Flea Market. Horse Creek Community Church is having rummage sale and huge Bake Sale, and the Happy Camp Grange is having Indoor & Outdoor Yard Sales as well as multifamily Yard Sales, individual sales and moving sales. Dan, Dolly, Rich and a lady from Elk Creek is planning to be at Bigfoot Corner. Dan will sell raffle tickets and RTK tickets. Nonmembers can be asked to donate from successful sales.

Rosemary mentioned that a phone number is wrong on the Bulletin Boards and Secretary will check them for accuracy.

James reported that the Rockin’ the Klamath tickets have come and presented an invoice for reimbursement of $90.24. Judy made a motion, Dan 2nd it, James abstained and the balance vote was unanimous. Fairchild Medical Center, Klamath River Resort Inn, Happy Camp News, Parry’s Market and River Connection Realty, Forest Lodge Motel and perhaps another will be sponsors for $100 each receiving 10 tickets, and a booth at the event. James will talk to Mr. Hahn about security, and Dan Falkenstein about portapottis. Judy will ask Alan Dyar about being Master of Ceremonies.

Friends of Dear Mad’m will commence picking up litter along the adopted highway shortly after the ride with Ryan Gomes on June 19th.

We had a request from EGG (Economic Growth Group) to have training on bicycle tourism. We will check with others, Beth Buchanan, Jon Graunbaum and Jody Waddell and if they are interested in attending will see about arranging a meeting, perhaps at the Forest Service.

Dan would like to see us plan the Street Fair. Al’s band would play at his place, we would charge nominally for nonprofit booths and Davis Road was suggested as long as people could get to Parry’s etc. Memorial Day Weekend 2014 was suggested.

Next meeting is July 2 at 6 at the Chamber Office.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20

Empty Handed

April 11, 2013

One by one He took them from me,
All the things I valued most.
Until I was empty-handed;
Every glittering toy was lost.

Then I walked earth’s highway grieving,
In my rags and poverty;
‘Til I heard His voice inviting:
Lift your empty hands to me.

So I held my hands toward Heaven,
And He filled them with a store
Of His own transcendent riches,
‘Til they could contain no more.

Then at last I comprehended
With my stupid mind and dull,
That God could not pour out His riches
Into hands already full.

Jesus is my Lighthouse

by Sam Butcher read by Royal Blue

When my nights are overshadowed
by uneasy clouds of gray,
When it seems as if there is no hope
and I can’t find my way.
I stand beneath the heavens
and I pray that I might find,
something just to reassure
This lonely heart of mine.
Through untamed storms
and angry seas
His light shall gently roam
Across the raging waters
He safely guides me Home.
Jesus is my lighthouse,
until the end of time!
And His beacon guides me
through these lonely nights of mine.
In Him I know that all is well
because He set me free
Yes, Jesus is my lighthouse
from now through all eternity.

Purpose of Life

Reasons for life
I don’t know how to say it, but somehow it seems to me
That maybe we are stationed where God wants us to be.
That the little place I’m filling is the reason for my birth.
And just to do the work I do, He sent me down to earth.
If God had wanted otherwise, I reckon He’d have made
Made me just a little different of a worse or better grade
And since God knows and understands all things, Of land and sea
I fancy that He placed me here, just where he wanted me!
Sometime I get to thinking, as my labors I review,
That I should like a higher place with greater things to do.
But I’ve come to the conclusion, when the ending is stilled
That the post to which God sent me, is the post He wanted filled.
So, I plod along and struggle in the hope that when Day is through
That I’m really necessary to the things God wants to do
And there isn’t any service, I can give which I should scorn
For it may be just the reason God allowed me to be born.

Promise Hope

You remain the same and your years will never end.
Psalm 102:27 NIV

The weather changes daily, and seasons come and go.

But God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His days are not numbered. He’s on His own eternal, never ending timetable.

God is always with us keeping all of His promises. The Bible tells us that God put the rainbow in the sky as a sign that He will never again destroy the earth with a flood. Only your infinite God can make and keep such a promise.

He has good plans for you, to give you hope and a future. Next time you see a rainbow, let it bring you hope.

Genesis 9:8-17; Psalm 119:137-152; Jeremiah 29:11-13; Hebrews 1:10-12
When you count your blessings, don’t forget the promises that you can rely on!!
