President Cathleen called the meeting to order shortly after six o’clock on April 5th
Rosemary will call Siskiyou Telephone for further instructions regarding our phone service as she will be answering the phone.

The Minutes from February 17th were read and approved. The minutes from March 1 were approved with the correction of changing April to March for mid March meeting. The minutes from March 15th were approved as read.

Cathleen shared a few words as president. She is extremely pleased and believes we are right on track, with the website and advertising accomplished already. She will encourage other directors to come to the next meeting.

Linda gave a secretary report on the e-mails. If they have request more information they will be referred to other websites. Former Web designer has not been able to be reached and her husband refused to give any contact information and so other alternative means of solving the website disappearance will have to be pursued.

In addition, Cathleen shared a former new member packet that she received from the Chamber in 1999.. We’ll make more new member packets and certificates for the new members. Cathleen, Linda and Judy plan to meet tomorrow to plan that and UPVISE data base of businesses. The newest additions to the membership are Happy Camp Volunteer Ambulance, South Fork Mining and Clinic Pharmacy. WELCOME!

Judy will contact Illinois Valley C of C, Mt. Shasta C of C, Yreka C of C, Willow Creek C of C, Trinity County C of C, and Yreka C of C about exchange memberships (without vote) for sharing information such as we have with Grants Pass C of C. They may discuss this at the Siskiyou County Chambers meeting in Weed on April 20th.

More information, probably an E-book, was discussed for providing answers to inquiries (and could be printed out for the person without internet access.) We also need brochures, flyers and business cards from every business member so that we can give them to people who ask, and take to events like the Sportsmen’s Expo where we handed out literature. (Please let us know if you have brochures & cards for this!!)

A letter which Cathleen had written to community businesses was discussed. It was suggested that we ask Ken Harris to speak to a meeting.

James gave a treasurers report (which is attached and also updated on the happycampchamber.org website.) We have about $1,789.79 in the bank account, of which $1,535.79 is available, not designated. Terri made a motion to pay about 3 months Siskiyou Telephone bill in advance for $65, 2nd by Rosemary, and passed.Plans for the coming year were discussed. It was decided to have a Bylaws meeting on a Saturday that Marie Wells, executive Director of Mt. Shasta Chamber of Commerce can come. the end of April or in May.

Plans for an Art and Treasure Yard Sale weekend June 11th after graduation were to be worked out with Terri and Cathleen as committee chairs.. The July concert at the park and Anniversary celebration were Rosemary and James to chair the committee.. Montine is the liaison with the Bigfoot Jamboree Committee and Judy volunteered to help with Chamber booth and float committee. The Date of the Community Tree Lighting hasn’t been set in December yet. March will be the Annual Meeting and Elections.

Next meeting will be the May 3rd meeting at 6 PM and all are welcome to come and participate.

March 1, 2011 Minutes

Dinah called the meeting to order and Kirk was asked to open in prayer.
Dinah expressed appreciation for Cathleen Searle and all she has done.

Minutes of February meeting were lost on Cats computer crash and will be recovered later.

James gave Treasurer’s report which is also on the Web Site with copies of bank statements. (Linda Martin has volunteered to help with the Web Site) Balance is $1,399 plus membership tonight is additional. Working balance (undesignated) is $1,195.70. Holy Smoke and Pizza House have sent in membership most recently.
Director’s comments: Terri thanked Dinah for her work with the Chamber.

Advertising Committee: James reported on the three-fold brochure the committee is working on.with map of Happy Camp and Directory of all Chamber members listed

Chicks with Sticks on 96 are working out when weather is rainy at 9 a.m. at Forest Lodge (FLM.)
Director of Year Award was presented to Dinah for her courage and good heart to do what’s right even when the situation was difficult!

Votes were Counted: Nominated and receiving votes to serve on the board of directors were: James Buchner, :Linda Martin, Cathleen Searle, Rosemary Boren, Judy Bushy, Montine Blevins, Roberta Lantow, Terri Winslow, Roberta (Bobi) Arneson and Ray Arneson, Lou Tiraterra, Sr, also volunteered to do any legal research or help.

Directly Following the Annual Meeting, ten new directors met to decide upon the officers for the coming year to March 31, 2012.

James nominated Cathleen for President., Vice President is Rosemary Boren. Treasurer will conyinue to be James Buchner. Linda agreed to be the secretary as well as keep the Website. Judy to assist with the minutes. Ray & Bobi , Roberta, Montine, and Terri Winslow are the general directors.

April monthly meeting will be in the evening of Tuesday, April 5th

Lou advised that the Bylaws should be updated and changed in any way that the Directors would like. Only things that can’t be changed are like the Franchise Tax Board, and other legal requirements.
Membership Committee– Rosemary volunteered

Suggested that we need a committee to raise funds.

An additional meeting was suggested that would prepare for the April 5th meeting and will be March 15th. Montine will check and see if the Elk Creek Campground Recreation Room is available for that meeting.
It was suggested that we have December and January off, after the Community Tree Lighting.
April 9th is the next meeting of the Advertising committee at Pizza House, who is a member.

Come prepared on March15th with 5 things you want to see the Chamber do for the Community in the coming year. Also discuss VISION of bringing business to businesses in our community and how to implement vision at that time.

While the more traditional Nativity scenes might be the usual fare on the Sunday before Christmas, the combined Sunday School Classes of the Happy Camp Christian Fellowship presented a Moses Skit instead.

At the close, Pastor Kirk Eadie reminded the congregation why Moses in the basket in the Nile was on the tree ornaments.

The Youth of the Happy Camp Christian Fellowship were busy in the heat of summer, doing yard work. The church bought property on Park Way in Happy Camp, including the car wash on Hwy 96. But, as with all things, weeds and blackberries sometimes tend to take over a place. So the young people have been working at the property to cut back on the blackberries.

Pastor Kirk Eadie, Alex, James, Abigail, Joosie, and Ciera were at the church property doing some weeding. Tomorrow, Abigail will be cooking up a storm with another girl who wants to go to camp, too. They have been having bake sales in front of Parry’s for money for camp.

This weekend, James and Alex will be heading out to Camp Bradley’s High School Camp. The boys will be back on Friday, then they will turn around on Sunday and leave again for Camp Ford, High School Rafting and Camping Trip. These boys are going to be bushed… Keep your prayers up for them and their stamina…. the parents too…

The girls still have time to earn their way to camp as it is later in the summer. Thanks all who have helped and supported their efforts.

The Students are taught in Sunday School at 10:30 on Sunday morning at the Happy Camp Elementary School, when services for the whole family are held. The older students are taught by Dave (Mookie) Culbert while the younger elementry students are taught by Robyn Eadie. Alternate weeks Dan and Judy Bushy assist the teens to teach the younger students. Everyone is welcome to attend the Happy Camp Christian Fellowship on Sunday at 10:30 at the Elementary School on Park Way.
