News of the Chamber Website!

Interim Board

The Happy Camp Chamber of Commerce had a great time at the Spaghetti Dinner at the Grange (see Community page) and planned to make a new Website using the Yola.com company. It was a very good meeting and also wished the President of the Chamber, Dinah, a very “Happy Birthday.”

The very next day www.happycampchamber.org was up and running. It is having new things, photos and information, added all the time. The home page has a map to see where Happy Camp is located and pictures of the “Welcome to Happy Camp, Steelhead Capital of the World” sign as well as television personality, Huell Howser. Huell provides history and travel information about California places on his television program and visited Happy Camp awhile ago.

The Website also has Visitors Information, Events, Business Directory, Join the Chamber, Committees and a Members area. The” Join the Chamber” page even has a pdf file that can let you print out a membership form to send to Happy Camp Chamber of Commerce. Visitors Information has places to stay and restaurants, as well as fishing, rafting and gold prospecting information for visitors.

It’s great how helpful the site is and how quickly the site was up and running! thanks to Kirk for the suggestion, and James for making it happen so quickly! Further suggestions are welcome at the Advertising Committee meeting at Frontier Cafe January 26th at 1 p.m.

Happy Camp Kids Present Moses Skit

Happy Camp Christian Fellowship

While the more traditional Nativity scenes might be the usual fare on the Sunday before Christmas, the combined Sunday School Classes of the Happy Camp Christian Fellowship presented a Moses Skit instead.

At the close, Pastor Kirk Eadie reminded the congregation why Moses in the basket in the Nile was on the tree ornaments.

Happy Seniors All Set for the New Year!

Happy Seniors!

The Log Memorial Building was decorated and the tree stood at the front of the room.

Before the festivities, the Happy Seniors thanked the officers of the past year and asked them to continue to do the great job that has been done in the past.

Friday, December 17th was a special get together for the Happy Seniors. They enjoyed a great potluck (best pot pie I’ve ever tasted!) and lots of other yummy things to eat! They tended to business first, reelecting President Anita Wolf, Vice Presidents Carol Day and Charley Fehley. The Secretary will continue to be Jeanne Burrer and Treasurer Pauline “Sis” Attebery. Maxine McCoy will serve again on the building committee. When the officers were installed, the BINGO games began.

Musical Addition to Holiday Dinner

Wainwrights music, Holiday Dinner in Happy Camp

Much to the enjoyment of the Christmas Eve Dinner guests, the Wainwright family from Happy Camp provided a musical backdrop.

Thanks to Karen Derry, Nadine and the staff and volunteers at the Family Resource Center who put on the Community Dinner on December 24th. Papa Tiraterra was a special hit, and the Wainwright family, Jim, Cheryl, Laura (Senior at State University) as well as a friend from Canada, who played and sang during the meal.

It was especcially good to see some of the students who have been away from Happy Camp for further education who returned for the holidays – Andrew Bley, Craig Reece and Laura Wainwright among them.

Thank you to all the volunteers who cooked, baked, served and cleaned up after the community dinner.

Jay and Stella Clark were the Grand Marshalls. They have contributed to the community in so many ways since Jay came to be the principal of Happy Camp High School in 1973. I remember they were coming into town as we were leaving for a year in Chicago, Illinois. That being quite a difference from Happy Camp, we wish we’d been coming instead of going.
